Sud-Graphie installs FolioTWiST 5 and sees 40% increase in speed
Dalim Software enables web printing company to optimise its production workflows
Kehl (Germany) and Saint-Sulpice (France) – Sud-Graphie, the South of France’s leading web printer, has turned to FolioTWiST and since installation has seen a giant leap in production. Integrator AGS Toulouse, a Dalim Software reseller and Folio Groupe partner, guided the company in its search for complete workflow automation.
“There’s absolutely no comparison!” says Olivier Ottin, Prepress Manager at Sud-Graphie. The workflow automation management system has only been installed for a few days and the printing company is already delighted with the results. The switch to FolioTWiST is a natural evolution for Sud-Graphie, which specialises in printing advertising and regional periodicals. Until now, the printing company had been using two FolioSWiNG systems and was looking for a solution to optimise workflow automation. “Previously, projects were sent manually to one or other of the solutions and we had to optimise the page calculation. Now, with FolioTWiST, the system makes the decisions and automatically sends the files to the predetermined output unit. This file handling process alone saves us an enormous amount of time,” continues Olivier Ottin.
The other reason for the migration to FolioTWiST was the ability to handle TIFF/IT files. “When clients give us an overprint in TIFF/IT format, we had to use a 5-unit press. However, sometimes, for scheduling reasons, we have to switch to a 4-unit press,” explains Olivier Ottin. “Previously, we didn’t have an automated solution for ganging the full-colour TIFF/IT files and the overprint, and we had to subcontract that part of the job. Now, we can gang the files and save even more time.”
The advantages of the FolioTWiST solution don’t end there as, according to Olivier Ottin, Sud-Graphie can modify and create workflows very simply, without any IT expertise. “We can add a printer, create FPOs etc., and set up much simpler job paths very easily," he says.
