Meyle+Müller boosts catalogue production with DALiM TWiST

Meyle+Müller, one of the largest pre-press companies in Europe, relies on DALiM TWiST to automate several workflows, enabling the organisation to efficiently produce 1,300+ page catalogues for some of the largest mail order companies, publishers and brand owners in Europe.

With the award winning automated workflow system DALiM TWiST, Meyle+Müller implements highly efficient and cost-saving production processes. During peak-periods, Meyle+Müller ouputs several thousand pages a day based on the DALiM TWiST workflow tools.

The experts of Meyle+Müller appreciate the features of DALiM TWiST to be easily integrated into other parallel business systems and configured into a variety of automatic processing paths. Meyle+Müller develops browser-driven customer facing solutions based around DALiM TWiST, QuarkXPress, OnlineMASK and the Media-asset-Management-System OnlineDBS to produce an extremely fast and stable production workflow for a variety of 'blue-chip' clients such as office supplies wholesaler Office Depot. All components are networked to each other to provide a frictionless workflow without any crossmedia-conversion.

DALiM TWiST enables JDF-driven file preflighting and imposition, web-based file submission (including both images and pages) and the production of print-predictable PDF files. It allows the client to upload both images and pages, (in a variety of file types) which the Meyle+Müller server automatically preflights, imposes, and optimises into various formats. The jobs are then distributed onto the printer and the client and archived in a centralised database to which Office Depot has 24/7 direct online access. Meyle+Müller can pass on the benefits of a faster, more efficient automated workflow to their clients, which includes important cost and time savings.

Meyle+Müller works in close co-operation with media production firm w&Co and together they have five  production sites with around four hundred employees throughout Germany and Bulgaria offering a wide range of reprographic and premedia services including graphic design, development of online database solutions, technology consulting services and design, production and hosting of online catalogues. Clients include some of the biggest mail order companies in Europe such as Otto, Klingel and Quelle, key publishers including Reader's Digest, Ehapa, Klett and leading retailers such as Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen and Rolf Benz.

"Since we implemented our DALiM TWiST-based customer-facing services portal, the reaction from our clients has been extremely positive", said Johannes Haas, Technology Manager at Meyle+Müller. "From a production point of view, having a fast, flexible "premedia engine" like DALiM TWiST to underpin our entire production services has helped to increased productivity, noticeably reduce waste and almost eliminate operator-induced errors."
