Prepress company Graphic Service pronounces itself fully satisfied with the Dalim Software solution

Kehl (Germany) – Prepress company Graphic Service, located in Hem, near Lille, wanted to improve its productivity and standardise its production workflow. Having implemented the modular DALiM TWiST solution in conjunction with O2i Nord, a Folio Group and Dalim Software solutions reseller, it immediately saw a significant increase in productivity.

In its twenty-five years in the business, Graphic Service has constantly invested in improving its productivity and the level of quality offered. Its work environment was varied and disparate and the company wanted to do away with the many different workstations needed to perform a job. Graphic Service therefore changed its entire production workflow. At the same time, it wanted to be able to generate new secure PDF file formats and ROOM (RIP Once, Output Many) technology was a vital criterion. All this had to be provided by a user-friendly solution so that operators could easily use the software and track task progress.

Four-fold increase in productivity
The DALiM TWiST workflow solution, which allows everyone involved in a project to track the progress of task performance in real time, delivered the anticipated results, and productivity has increased four-fold since its deployment. “We have two stand-alone computers that ensure that production doesn't stop if one of them fails or needs upgrading," says Thierry Page, Technical Director at Graphic Service. The company has consistently increased production, and there has been no down-time since the implementation of DALiM TWiST. 

Graphic Service’s clients and the printers with which the prepress company does business are increasingly asking for Raster PDF (CT plus LW) and PDF-P2 (CT plus vector) file formats in addition to TIFF/IT P1. As the DALiM TWiST workflow solution rasterises these files, Graphic Service can guarantee the results. “This was the only solution that was able to fully process all of our test files when we were evaluating the products currently available on the market. What’s more, the DALiM TWiST solution lets us create or change our workflows as we wish, as and when developments arise,” says Thierry Page.

DALiM TWiST also allows all predefined file parameters to be checked and PDF files to be secured and prepared so that they are ready to print. Remote approval
In 2007, Graphic Service has set itself the goal of offering a complete remote approval solution. “We are currently testing Dalim Software’s offering with our clients. This will allow for approval of editorial content as well as the chroma of the images,” explains Thierry Page. “Remote clients will use their calibrated screens, and we will provide the proofing simulation profile.” Graphic Service will give its clients information and training on how to use and set up these new production processes.
