Meet the Team: Céline Utard, CFO and Head of HR at DALIM SOFTWARE
At DALIM SOFTWARE, the people behind the product are just as interesting as the technology itself. In our Meet the Team series, we sit down with the...
Behind every stable login, every smooth deployment, and every disaster averted, there's an IT team quietly keeping things running. This month, we sat down with Hervé Bricka, one of the people behind DALIM's infrastructure, to talk about life on the technical side of the business. From wrangling mainframes to mastering MLOps, Hervé brings a rare mix of old-school reliability and new-school AI curiosity to the role. He also, as it turns out, plays drums and electric guitar, so if you ever hear a faint rhythm section coming from the server room, now you know why!
I'm an IT manager at DALIM, where I work across infrastructure, DevOps, and AI platform engineering. My role is to keep the technical foundation stable, secure, and scalable so our teams can build and run the products and services they need every day.
My week is usually a mix of infrastructure operations, incident response, maintenance, and project work. I spend time keeping systems stable, improving automation, and keeping an eye on AI, staying hands on with it.
I'm currently focused on keeping our infrastructure stable, fixing technical debt, and making our infrastructure as secure as possible against cyber threats. That includes day to day operations, incident handling, backup and disaster recovery, and ongoing work around platform and AI related projects.
What first inspired you to pursue your profession?
What first drew me to this profession was the mix of problem solving and building systems that people rely on every day. I've always enjoyed making complex infrastructure work reliably and turning technical challenges into practical solutions.
Can you walk us through your career path and what led you to DALIM?
I have always worked with large organizations, focusing on automation and stabilizing complex infrastructures, including mainframes and other critical systems. I've spent much of my career helping make environments more reliable, efficient, and easier to operate. I also spent six years as a Dalim integrator, reseller, and project manager, which gave me a very deep understanding of Dalim solutions from both the technical and customer sides.
Looking back, is there a particular experience or opportunity that had a major impact on your career?
My experience at Galilee was a turning point in my career. It led me into project management and product ownership on sensitive projects for demanding clients in big pharma, food, and other highly regulated environments. That experience later helped me move into a project director role.
What attracted you to DALIM when you first joined?
It was the variety of its activities, especially in press, comics, and the wider prepress world. It felt dynamic, creative, and much more stimulating than working for institutions, for example.
Was there anything about DALIM's culture, people, or way of working that surprised you?
DALIM's strong commitment to its clients, as well as the company's impressive ability to innovate while remaining successful over such a long period of time.
DALIM is a highly international company. How does that global environment influence your work? What do you enjoy most about this experience?
The international environment makes the work more dynamic and more interesting, because I need to adapt to different teams, cultures, and expectations. What I enjoy most is the diversity of perspectives and the fact that we work together toward the same goal across countries, something I've done a lot in the past, and enjoyed.
How would you describe the team you work with?
Kind, supportive, committed, efficient, we stick together.
Are there any achievements or moments at DALIM that you're especially proud of?
My journey to master the technical side of AI and to become more proficient in MLOps.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Taking long walks in nature, gaming, spending time with family and friends.
Do you have any hobbies, interests, or passions you'd like to share?
Playing drums and electric guitar.
What's something you've learned during your career that has stayed with you?
With patience and discipline, lasting things are built.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their career, what would it be?
Be humble and curious.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining DALIM?
Keep an open mind and always keep the big picture in view.
Talking with Hervé, one thing comes through clearly: good infrastructure, like good advice, comes from patience and discipline. Whether he's fixing technical debt, hardening systems against cyber threats, or getting hands on with AI platform work, he brings the same steady, humble approach that took him from mainframes to MLOps. And his advice for anyone starting out, be humble and curious, might be the best two-word job description we have heard yet.
Thanks for talking with us, Hervé!
