Nearly a century after Alfons Loacker created his first “cialda di Bolzano”, Loacker S.p.A. remains headquartered in South Tyrol, Italy, specializing in the production of wafers, chocolate, and confectionery enjoyed across global markets.

Today, the family-owned business operates two production plants, one in Auna di Sotto on the Renon (Italy) and another in Heinfels, East Tyrol (Austria). Leadership rests with the third generation: Andreas and Martin Loacker, alongside executive chairman Ulrich Zuenelli. Loacker products are enjoyed worldwide, particularly in Italy, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the United States, and China.

Recognizing the need to organize its extensive asset library and ensure consistent data quality, the company initiated a project to consolidate all digital assets into a single, centralized platform.

The goal was to make assets easily accessible to both internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, agents, and retailers, while supporting modern usage scenarios such as mobile access and offline availability.


Integration Challenges and SAP Alignment

One of the most significant challenges during implementation was integrating the DAM solution with Loacker’s existing SAP management system. The complexity of the company’s bill of materials and varied data structures required careful streamlining to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.

Through structured analysis and optimization, Loacker successfully transformed the DAM platform into a graphical interface for SAP. This integration automated the creation of product data, reduced manual processes, and significantly improved internal workflows.


Enhancing Collaboration Across Teams

To further improve collaboration and workflow efficiency, Loacker fully integrated its DAM solution with the MS SharePoint Portal and the DALIM SDK. This integration provided seamless access to creative marketing materials such as packaging artwork and point-of-sale displays, all viewable in high resolution.

The DALIM SDK plays a central role in the review and approval process. When artwork is ready for review, stakeholders with the appropriate permissions are automatically notified and can add annotations directly within the system. A Virtual Compare feature enables side-by-side comparisons to detect even the smallest differences between versions.

Project managers benefit from complete visibility into all comments and suggestions, with full traceability and accountability. This digital process streamlines reviews, ensures accuracy, and supports localized adaptations across markets.


Workflow Automation and Approval Governance


Annotations and reviews are fully integrated with Loacker’s internal approval workflow, known as “RUNDLAUF.” This integration further optimizes workflows, accelerates approvals, and improves productivity across departments.

Every step of the review process is recorded, ensuring consistency, compliance, and transparency , critical for a brand operating at global scale.
